Description of Classes
Adult CPR
Class includes conscious choking victim (Heimlich maneuver), rescue breathing, unconscious choking victim, and CPR. This is a certification course that meets OSHA requirements. Can be combined with Infant/Child CPR or First Aid.
Adult CPR with AED Training
The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a machine that can restart a heart that has stopped beating by analyzing the heart's rhythm and delivering an electrical shock. This is a certification course that meets OSHA requirements. Can be combined with Infant/Child CPR or First Aid.
Infant/Child CPR
Class includes conscious choking for infant (up to age 1) and child (age 1-8), rescue breathing, unconscious choking victim, and CPR.
This is a certification course that meets OSHA requirements. Can take both the infant and child, or just one. Can be combined with Adult CPR or First Aid.
Basic First Aid
Class includes how to care for bleeding, shock, burns, poisoning, heat and cold emergencies, bites and stings, bone/joint/muscle injuries, head/spinal injuries, and workplace safety. This is a certification class that meets OSHA requirements. Can be combined with CPR certification.
Blood - Borne Pathogens
This is an OSHA regulated course for anyone with on-the-job exposure to infectious materials such as blood or body fluids. Course content includes how diseases are transmitted, how to protect oneself from disease transmission, workplace safety, and information on Hepatitis B and HIV. Can be combined with CPR or First Aid.
CPR for Professional Rescuer/Healthcare Provider
Class typically for lifeguards, healthcare providers. Class includes adult, infant, and child conscious and unconscious choking, rescue breathing, one and two-person CPR, use of the bag valve mask, and AED.
Water Safety Courses
*classes are in cooperation with the American Red Cross
*classes are offered from January through June
Lifeguarding
This is a 32 hour certification class which prepares students to work in a pool setting. This class includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer w/ AED and First Aid Certifications. Participants must be 15 years of age and a strong swimmer in order to participate.
Lifeguarding Recertification
This 16 hour class is for those who hold current Lifeguard and CPR for the Professional Rescuer Certifications.
Lifeguarding Instructor
This 24 hour course is for those who want to instruct Lifeguarding classes. Participants must be proficient in all of the Lifeguarding, CPR for Professional Rescuer w/AED, and First Aid Skills in order to enroll.
Water Safety Instructor
This course teaches participants how to teach swimming.
Participants MUST have good swimming skills to
enroll in this course. This is not a course to learn how to swim
